Frequently Asked Questions
My search results show duplicated entries, what's going on?
Occassionally, your search results table will contain duplicated information. This is because more than one entry exists in Swiss-Prot/TrEMBL with the same gene and protein name. If you look at the detailed pages for each entry, they will have different Swiss-Prot/TrEMBL accession numbers associated with them. As protein entries are curated in those databases, TrEMBL entries are removed and only the Swiss-Prot entry remains, so for a short period of time the data is duplicated.
We don't currently do any manual checking of the data so if it seems proteins are duplicated then this is probably why. However, if you do find 2 entries for which the detailed information pages are entirely identical, please let us know!
